McCoy Rigby’s Youth Civic Light Opera (MRYCLO) is the only professional-level Civic Light Opera program on the west coast designed specifically for talented young performers, ages 11-21, selected by audition, from all parts of southern California. Performers do not have to attend the MRCA or Broadway-U to be eligible to audition for MRYCLO productions. The MRYCLO produces two professional quality, fully staged musical theatre productions each year at The La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and/or other high profile theatrical venues in Orange County.
MRYCLO gives a platform to aspiring young Musical Theatre artists who are pursuing a career in theatre to hone their skills and build their resumes as they participate in professionally produced theatrical productions as part of one of the nation’s leading regional theatre companies. MRYCLO productions are part of a subscription series at both La Mirada Theatre and Riverside Theatre and selected productions will tour the nation. With a unique relationship with Actor’s Equity, MRYCLO productions will often feature Equity guest artists in both leading and supporting roles enhancing both the production quality and the educational experience of the young performers.
MRYCLO presents two fully staged professional productions each season. The inaugural production will be presented in January 2010, and the second in June 2010. Please check our audition schedule details.
