Broadway U-Prep is an after-school program of McCoy Rigby Conservatory of the Arts that was designed specifically to assist the dreams of Junior high school students, grades 6 – 8, with aspirations of careers in the Performing Arts, and more specifically, Musical Theatre. Broadway U-Prep provides the most comprehensive classes, rigorous coursework, and professional training available in the region for aspiring young Musical Theatre performers. The educational opportunities available at Broadway U-Prep will provide the essential tools necessary to build, achieve, and sustain a career on Broadway and beyond. Although less-intensive and demanding than the Broadway-U high school conservatory, the Broadway-U Prep provides both instructional and performing opportunities beyond the scope of any other school or program in the region.

Broadway U-Prep students are selected by audition.  Students accepted into Broadway U-Prep will be placed into one of three levels based upon their demonstrated level of experience, craft, and technique.  Student must audition annually for Broadway U-Prep and acceptance is not guaranteed.

The faculty of Broadway U-Prep is comprised of working professional actors, singers, directors, choreographers, composers and writers.  The core faculty is supplemented by “Guest Master Teachers” consisting of celebrated artists and professionals from Broadway, Hollywood, and regional theatres throughout the nation.

In addition to their classroom instruction, Broadway-U Prep students will have the opportunity to participate in selected master classes with the leading professionals in the industry alongside the Broadway U high school students and will perform in theatrical productions and performances specifically designed for the Prep.
